Shaker card and winter wryn

It’s Friday and it’s fab! It’s Tiddly Inks time! Winter Wryn is in my spotlight today.

I’ve done it. I’ve started making Christmas cards. But instead of doing the ‘same old’, I decided to have a go at a shaker card for the first time. As usual I didn’t follow a tutorial, as I think it’s more fun to try stuff on my own. I do like to make things awkward for myself, right?

It is not perfect. I decided to double layer the foam tape and had to cut it by hand so the thickness isn’t the same on both layers. This means that the little stars I used got stuck around the side and it looks like I’d made a frame with them as well. It works. It looks great. But it wasn’t intentional, haha!

The ‘god jul’ die is from Kaboks, the flowers from The Hobby House and Wild Orchid Cards, Martha Stewart made the puncher, the white candy is from Craftwork Card (I coloured two of them with YG67), and the paper is by Maja Design. Oh and the stars in the shaker card? That is just some confetti I had laying about. In a bag that is, not all over! I will have to get something that looks like snow for the next one.

Here you can see the stars being all over:

CMN blog hop

It’s blog hop time! Copic Marker Norge is celebrating its sixth birthday this month and we’re having a blog hop to celebrate. Each DT blog will have a small prize that can be shipped world-wide, but the main prize on the CMN will only be shipped domestically. Still very much worth while for everybody to comment on the DT blogs! The prize on my blog will be a small goodie-bag of my favourite “stash” that I have yet to put together, hence no photo of it! For information on how to win the main prize, please see the CMN blog.

I went with a Tiddly Inks image for my card. This time I actually made the background first, with two different copic refills, and then coloured the image to match. It wasn’t easy getting the right shade of red for it though, but I got there in the end with many layers of colour. I decided to go with a dark hair colour to really set the contrast with the background. The image is cut out by hand and layered over a white strip with the sentiment I made to match.

Siv is the next in line! Be sure to pop by her and leave her a comment.

Shy violet and frustration-inked background

Have you ever been so stuck on a card that you have fuzzy cut it twice? Once with a border and once without? And then been so frustrated on what to do with the actual that you’re almost just throwing away the image? Well this happened to me, on this card. It’s possible because it is yellow. I am not very good with yellow. So how did it end up as a card?

Well… I got out one of my copic refill ink bottles and just tossed some ink down on the blank card, then I got a cotton pad which I poured more ink on and just rubbed it on the white background. And there we go. It wasn’t supposed to be pretty, or planned, or anything. In fact I liked how it just showed my frustration somewhat, hahaha. I made a sentiment text and printed it out and layered it between the inked background and the coloured image.

A perfectly reasonable way to react when you cannot think of what to do, right? haha. I really quite like it, though, and I will definitely do more cards like it. Although… it will be more intentional next time! Maybe I should do a tutorial on it then…

And the image? That is Shy Violet by Tiddly Inks. The card is for the new Tiddly Inks anything goes challenge. Come join in, will you?

Watery birthday celebrations

Copic Marker Norge is celebrating its 6 years this month! This is the card I have made for the birthday celebration challenge. Pop over and celebrate with us!

I have used an Art by Mi Ran design by Whimsy Stamps, Coventina, and went for my favourite colours, a mix of turquoise and blue! I’m not sure I’ve actually used this colour combination on a card previously, but I should definitely use it more.

The sentiment is my own, and the flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts and Live and Love Crafts. The bottom layer of the background papers was originally more grey-teal shaded, but I went over it with blue distress ink to get the colour I wanted for the card. The same distress ink was used around the edge of the image and the sentiment. The papers are from Panduro and Papermania and I did all the edges with a tool I got at Panduro. The dragonflies are my newest dies and they are by Magnolia. Aren’t they darling? The lace is from Live and Love Crafts, the ribbon from The Hobby House and the cheese cloth I bought at Bikuben.
