Whimsy penguin with candy cane

Pencil colouring is fun! My next pencil colouring will actually be my 10th and yesterday it was a month since I first tried coloured pencils. Not many of them have made it onto cards though, only 3 of them, of which one of them have made it onto the blog so far. I find it quite different to make cards with craft as the base colour instead of white, but I’m sure I’ll get the hang of it soon!

This time I’ve made a Christmas card using a penguin with candy cane by Whimsy Stamps, it’s in the Crissy Armstrong collection. Isn’t he adorable? As I wrote in the first paragraph, I haven’t made many cards using my pencil colourings, so for this one I took a page out of Elin‘s book. She’s the only one I know who makes clusters of paper scraps like this and I like it, so I thought I’d try it myself. I think it works well for my card!

I use prisma color premier pencils.

Whimsy party pig

Apparently it’s May. Not entirely sure how that happened, but hey it’s mean there’s a new release up at Whimsy Stamps! I used Crissy’s party pig for my card and can you see what I’ve done different?

Yup. Pencils. Pencils on kraft. Until about a week ago I hadn’t coloured up with pencils before, not even had a try I was unhappy with. I simply hadn’t tried. I’d been told it was difficult, so I’ve just put it up and stuck with my Copics even if I got my pencils as a gift well over three years ago! I finally tried them and they are so much fun! I love the effect I get from using them on kraft paper as well. My Prismacolor pencils are definitely going to be used regularly!

Colouring video: Jillian and Friends

I have made a video using one of the Whimsy Stamps images. (Actually I’ve made two, and they are both up on YouTube, but I will link the other one here tomorrow.) This time I’ve coloured up the girl from the Jillian and Friends stamp set. Here I will also be colouring in some grass under the girl’s feet as you can se below.

The stamp is printed at approximately 2 1/4″ by 3 1/4″ on Copic colouring paper and I have finally had time to do audio to a video again so I will be talking you through my colouring of this image.

If you’d rather watch it directly on You Tube, click here.

The colours used for this video are: (skin) E000, E00, E02, E13, E15, (hair) E21, E25, E27, E29, (grass) YG01, YG23, YG17, YG97, (yellow) Y13, Y17, YR16, E08, (blue) B21, B23, B26, B39, (white) N0, N1, N3

I have also made a card using this image. You can see it below:

Whimsy Daphne

Time for another Whimsy Stamps inspirational post. For this one I’ve used Daphne from the Wee Stamps collection. It must be one of the first times I’ve actually managed to use an Easter related stamp close to Easter!

It’s been coloured up with Copic Marker as per usual and I’ve made it into a layered card using Maja Design paper, my favorite lace, ribbon from a local shop and dies from MFT Stamps, La-La Land Crafts and Rayher.

A list of what colours I used will be added later today.

Background stamping

Sometimes it’s fun to make a background out of a stamp. For this one I’ve used a stamp from ALTENEW and stamped it up at random 4 times. It’s a pretty big stamp so it covers a lot of area. I then coloured it all in with my Copics, as usual, using the RV90 series. I also coloured in the card base to get a matching colour frame and then I used RV99 to make a sentiment strip. I used Gina K’s white ink for the text stamp and said text stamp is by Mathia Design (Hobbykunst). At the end I added 3 light grey enamel dots below the sentiment.
