A couple of bookmarks

I have so many cards and projects to get done, so I escaped all of it by making myself a bookmark as I have no idea where the other ones are and this book I’m reading deserves a proper bookmark. I had quite a few stamps I coloured up while I had my demo at Hobbykunst, and they are perfect for bookmarks! I sent a quick text to closest family and then ended up making eleven bookmarks, so far… Here are the first two I made. The dies and stamps are all by MFT Stamps. The die set I used for the actual bookmarks is part of what I chose for my Superstar win and I absolutely love it!

This one is mine. I surprised myself by keeping the colours soft, and of course I had to have a hedgehog on it!

I so love this space stamp set. Isn’t it the cutest?!

Unfortunately I will not be listing the colours for these stamps, but to give you a general idea: the grey and black in the space one is all N markers and the brown and skin colour on the hedgehog are E70s and V90s.

Funky girl bookmark

Can you ever have too many bookmarks? For me that answer is no! I love reading and I rarely manage to read just one book at a time. I am also terribly good at misplacing my bookmarks so having an extra supply of those is great. With a kid that also loves to read it’s just a great way to keep making bookmarks!

I opted for pink, for a change, for this bookmark. I’ve used various dies from La-La Land Crafts, Memory Box and Precious Marieke, some washi tape, embossed a background and coloured up a stamp from Huldra Designstudio.

Jeg har laget et rosa bokmerke med La-La Land Craft, Memory Box og Precious Marieke dies, litt washi tape. Den hvite bakgrunnen er embosset og stempelet jeg fargela er fra Huldra Designstudio.

Teddy in hot air balloon

Do you remember the tag I shared on Monday? The La-La Land Crafts one? Well, the kid liked it and wanted one to use as a bookmark. I couldn’t say no to that, so I made it in the requested purples and pinks. I won’t show the background, as it has the kid’s name embedded, but basically it has the same bottom border die and the quote “a book is like a garden carried in the pocket“. Beary sweet bookmark

It is no secret that I love to read. I don’t read a large amount of books a year or anything, but I do try to get through one or two a month. So far this year I have finished four. One, potentially bad, habit I have is to read several books at the same time. Generally they are very different kinds of books, and I prefer to have one in Norwegian and one in English at least. I am currently reading three. This means I require a few bookmarks, and as I couldn’t find two of them when I started on my most recent book I decided it was time to make the bookmark I’d said I would make to match the one I made for the kid in January. Obviously mine had to be in a blue/teal kind of colour!

I decided to use the same stamp, as I think she’d like that. It is Beary Sweet from Tiddly Inks and I’ve coloured it in with Copics before I cut it out by hand. I adore Wryn wearing her panda hat! The tag was made using Silhouette Portrait 2. (I really don’t like that machine, but I’m finally finding something where it is semi-useful and cuts where I want (ish!).) All the papers are from Bazzill (plain) and Maja Design (patterned). I’ve used dies by Memory Box and candi by Craftwork Cards, and some random ribbon I had laying about which colour fit perfectly! I love it when that happens!

I decided to use another of the stamps in that set on the back side of the bookmark. It took a moment to find a quote I liked that I could have on the back as well, and I chose this one by C. S. Lewis. I absolutely loved watching Narnia every Easter and Christmas when I grew up. It was the old BBC series and it was worth getting up to watch it every morning for sure. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was my favourite, and as I still enjoy that story, I thought the quote was perfect! To make sure everybody knows that it’s my bookmark, I added a my name behind the quote.

Here you can see the front and back together in one photo.

Panda bookmark

Well, a panda hat at least! The girl I was making this for had her sixth birthday just last week and has just started reading her first proper book on her own, so of course she needed a bookmark! She requested something with a panda and when I showed her this image she screamed yes so I guess it was just what she wanted! Of course as she’d seen the sparkly dress from a couple of days ago, this dress had to sparkle too, and be pink!

The adorably cute image is by Tiddly Inks and is called Beary Sweet. Such a perfect name!

I will not show the back side of it as it has her name on it. However, I will share the quote I decided to use: ”Allt stort som skedde i världen skedde först i någon människas fantasi.” by Astrid Lindgren. It roughly translates into: “Everything great that ever happened in the world happened first in somebody’s imagination.”

Perhaps I should make myself one too. My goal this year is to read 20 books. Do you have a reading goal?

And here it is on its own.
