With only three weeks to go until Christmas, I am quite pleased I have managed to finish half of my Christmas shopping already. I have not had a lot of spare time between studying for the various exams so far and I doubt I will get any more shopping done until the last one is over and done with around 6pm on Monday the 19th December. Hopefully I am able to make a few more cards next week, though. There are a few I would like to get done, birthday cards included!
This post contains cards I made early last month. Once again red is my preferred background colour.
I was getting tired of the solid coloured background I have used for the previous cards and wanted a change this time. It is not a huge change, but the golden lines did exactly what I wanted: added some pattern and colour throughout. Another change I made was trying to use more patterned card than has been the case on the previous Christmas cards.
The stamps on both cards are from… can you guess it? Lili of the Valley, of course! The stamp on this first card is called Puppy Post. As mentioned in a previous post, I think the colouring here was much better than on the other Puppy Post card I made. The main difference is that I purchased a dark grey Promarker and used it over the red and bottom left dark parts of the post box. The pens I use normally are Copic Markers, mostly Ciao and some Sketch. I think it all blends a lot better than on the previous card and I am very pleased with the result.
Even though the front was (in my opinion) a lot fancier than on my previous Christmas cards, the middle of this was still fairly plain. I used the gold borders again, this time vertical at various widths, and some golden snowflakes. The text was done with a stamp from North Star Stamps. The bottom corner of the greeting area was a stamp I’ve coloured, while the border is drawn by hand.
On this second card the Lili of the Valley stamp I used is called Carol Singers. It has a lot of little details to colour in and I used grey Promarker pens for the shading on this card also. I think it works particularly well on the red to darken it up. I tried to stay with colours that matched the rest of the card here, also. I think it turned out nicely.
The middle of this card was made to match the other card, but I decided to use a different text stamp (also from North Star Stamps). This particular text stamp is parts of the lyrics of a Christmas song that is very popular in Norway and also one of my favourites. I thought it worked nicely with the carolers on the front!
