One exam done and two to go; all this week. I am so looking forward to the weekend right now! Although I’ve barely done anything but study the past few weeks, another card post was well due! This card and box were the last I made before I packed it all away for the exam preparations. The card was a request from a co-worker and I suggested to make a box to go with. This is the first time I’ve attempted making a box! Let’s have a look then!
I made the card first; I would then have the exact measurements for the box. As I had been unable to find any pre-made templates, I had to make it from scratch. For the card I used a mix of primarily old pink and white paper. I bought the patterned ribbon especially with this card in mind and the lace was also new. The baby in hammock stamp is from Lili of the Valley, which I coloured in with some new copics. The side was decorated with flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts. I had also made a tag, which I was unsure whether would look better in the bottom of the box, inside the card or on the front of the card so I left it loose for my co-worker to decide. Heh!
To make the box I first measured the card and then cut it all out. I had recently bought a score tool which came in handy here to get the folds made easier. To decorate it I primarily used the same papers, ribbons, lace flowers and stamped image for the box. The edge of the box was decorated with a baby stuff patterned paper. I also added some pearls to the lid and a different ribbon inside the box which had a baby theme. (Click on the image if you want to see a bigger version.)
This card has been entered into the following competitions:
Lili’s Little Fairies – Anything Goes
The Poodle’s Parlous – Anything Goes
Wild Orchid Crafts Challenge – Fancy Folds
(I don’t actually know whether the box would qualify for the WoCC or not, so appologies if it does not!)
