Valentines is coming up soon, which is an excellent reason to make a card! I had plenty of ideas and could have easily made several cards, but one will have to do, for now! Reds and hearts and lace. What a fun combination for a card! No entries from me in the Lili’s Little Fairies challenges this week as I don’t have the dies to cut out hearts big enough to follow the sketch.. oh well, there’s always next week!
My mother kindly brought some cute paper a while ago that she’d spotted being out shopping. It seemed like a great idea to use it for this card. The paper is crowded with hearts of various shapes and colours. A thin white lace border was used to make a frame, and I then added some silver pearls in the corners to hide the fact the border doesn’t match up perfectly. The die cutter made some great hearts I glued on top which I filled with tiny silvery heart stickers.
It was an excellent opportunity to use a stamp I have had for months. The bunny love stamp from Lili of the Valley. It is so cute! I coloured the bunnies in with Copics; E42 and C1 + C3. I distressed the edge with a mix of tea and pink colours to add a warm feeling to it, before using some pillow tape to raise it from the card itself slightly.
Inside I kept the same theme from the front. I used the same hearty background with the lace border. Two hearts were added behind the greeting area, which was made the same size as on the front. To try to get the greeting area to match even more closely I attempted to draw flowers and grass to match the ones on the stamp and coloured it with the same colours. I’m quite pleased with how it turned out.
The colours look a bit dull and dark in the photos here.
