Blue James

I couldn’t do this year’s pile of Christmas cards without my favourite bear! I’ve been colouring him, in various poses, every year since I started colouring, and I am not about to break that tradition! I’ve used prismacolor pencils this time and I simply love that look of pencils on kraft. It’s been a while since I did any of those colourings, so I shall bump that right to the top of my list, I think! You can find James Santa Stop Here in the Lili of the Valley shop.

The big sentiment die is by Mama Elephand and I coloured it up with copics to match. A little die cut around the edge and a lot of snow finished it off.

Here is another photo because he’s cute! See all the layers on the text.

PFS Beary Christmas

My take on the cute Beary Christmas To You (this and all links are affiliate links) stamp from this month’s Picket Fence Studios release is that I made the bear into a polar bear!

I’ve stamped the sentiment twice. It is called Another Joyeux Noel. Once on the background and then also on the coloured image. This is because the coloured image was die cut after I coloured it, but I didn’t want the text stamp to disappear behind it. I used only the Christmas part of the sentiment and used a text stamp from the Sweet Holiday set which I embossed in white onto black to go with. The card was finished off with a few sequins from The Winter Blues mix.

The text stamp is stamped right onto the card base whereas the coloured image is die cut and put on foam tape to get some dimension. I coloured up the background behind him in a deeper shade of blue to make him stand out more.

Here is a close-up of the polar bear because he’s cute!

PFS Big Snowman

I have another new card to share from the latest Picket Fence Studios (this and following links are all affiliate links) release. When I first saw this snow I knew I had to colour him up in a no-line version! It is a little bit tricky, but it also gives the stamp a bit of a different look. And if I have a weak spot I think it must be just this, snowmen in no-line. The stamp is called Snowone Else Like You

Isn’t he adorable? I put him in the corner and masked him off to create the darker blue background with Distress Oxides before using the Liquid White Snowflake Paper Splatter Watercolor to make it look like it is snowing. Then I used my Copics to colour him up. For the sentiment I used one of the word stamps from Merry Christmas Friends, stamped it up in a deeper shade of red, and used the coordinating die for it. Then I put it on the card using foam tape to give it some dimension. To finish it all off I used snowflakes from the Nostalgic Times mix and red sequins from the Vintage Christmas mix.

Here you can see how pretty the sequins are and get everything at a close-up. If you love sequins and shaker mixes, then Picket Fence Studios is really the place to browse around. They have so many gorgeous mixes!

This card is also a part of a feature over at Scrapbook and Cards today. You can view it here.

PFS A Candy Cane Christmas

Somehow it’s already the 14th of the month and it is new release day at Picket Fence Studios! I’ve started my monthly showcase with this gorgeous stamp illustrated by Kelly Taylor. I’ve loved her stuff for years and I’m so happy to finally colour up one of her stamps. This one is called Candy Cane Christmas and it is not the only one in this release! I opted for classical Christmas colours and made a fun mashup background for the card. You know I love those!

The background is made up of a green distressed background with the Slim Line Plaid One stencil on top before using the Hark, the Angels Sing to add the text on the background. Then I had fun making some splatter with the new Liquid White Snowflake Paper Splatter Watercolor. Then used some of the lush green sequins from the Holiday Stockings sequin mix for the finishing touches.

I am particularly pleased with how the bow turned out, but the whole card is among my favourites this year.

And we need a close-up, too, right?

PFS Santa Claus Comes Tonight

It’s time for Santa to visit my blog. With two months and a couple of weeks to go it’s soon going to be time to mentally prepare for Christmas and all that comes with hahaha. This Santa Claus Comes Tonight from Picket Fence Studios covers up the card front nicely and he is pretty easy to colour up. I’ve used some of the Paper Glaze Snowdrop White and the Fancy Christmas Tree blending stencils around him and then a small sentiment to go with. Card making doesn’t have to be complicated 🙂

I put the coloured panel off to the side, and kept the same height as the card base.

You can see the swirls from the blending stencil and the texture quite well on a close-up.
