LLLC April Showers

Monday again already. That means it is time for me to show off another La-La Land Crafts project. The theme for this week is April Showers. I thought Dancing in the Rain Marci would be perfect for this, and I decided yet again to go with a combination of colours I don’t use very often, green and pink.

As some of you may have seen, I’ve never been one to use a lot of dies. 3 or so, sure, but not a lot on one project. So I decided to challenge myself, and a challenge it was. From three dies onwards I had to tell myself “just one more, come on” and then “one more die, you can do it”, hahaha. It worked, though. I have used SEVEN different ones! That is a lot for me! You can find a list of them all below.

The papers are mostly by Bazzill (the plain colours) and Maja Design.

The side on view shows how the butterflies are only attached by their body and that Marci and the middle background border have both been put on foam tape to give it more dimention.

A photo from another angle where you can see the bottom flower better and how the butterfly pops up.

Monsters!

Another boy’s birthday which I needed to make a card for. It almost looks like I’m making a habit out of making boy cards now! This time I decided to use monsters from Your Next Stamp. Aren’t they awesome? I cut them out by hand.

The background is made using Distress Oxide Ink. I then splashed water on it in rather big chunks which created a great contrasting effect. I added the coloured strip to the middle of the card and added the monsters on top so it looks like they’re stood up over the top of the card.

After I took the photos I used an alphabet die set and cut out the boy’s name in dark purple and put it underneath the happy birthday sentiment. The happy birthday sentiment is by My Favorite Things which I embossed in white. And the white dots? They’re candi by Craftwork Cards.

And from the side, where you can also see some of the doodling I did inside.

They’ve just added a bunch of new products, and I cannot wait to get my hands on some of them!

I’m also showing you a card I made today. I decided to give nolines colouring of Darling Molli a go. It wasn’t very difficult, even if I’ve done less than a handful of nolines colouring in the past. I also played around with a new green colour combination. I do love trying new random combinations by just picking up some Copics and seeing how they work together!

This time I wanted to play around and try a newish layout as well. I did one a few months ago that was a little similar. What I did was that I made the front part of the card much narrower than the inside, so when the card lies down flat you can see part of the inside. The front is about 10cm wide, while the inside is 15cm.

This first photo shows the front of the card only. I decided to keep it simple. I found a green coloured paper that matched the dress, coloured up a couple of candi and used the butterfly die in the same colour as the paper inside the card. After I’d fussy cut out the stamp and put it on I drew the ground directly onto the card base.

This is a photo where you can see the part that is decorated inside as well. When the card lays down flat you can see the border with the happy birthday quite well. I cut out the sentiment die in white and then coloured it up using the same colours that I used on the dress. The border inside is only as wide as you can see in the photo (about 6 cm) which leaves 9cm of blank space to write on.

Hip, hippo, hooray!

You know what’s fun? Distress Oxide inks! I coloured up these adorable stamps from My Favorite Things (MFT Stamps), which I bought at Dies to die for (in the UK). I made three little images in matching colours and then cut them out by hand. Then I decided on a card design, and it got completely ruined, so I had to start over. Thankfully I hadn’t gotten around to using the images yet!

I used three different inks, first light green, then darker green and then blue before going with darker green and lighter green. Let’s see.. the inks are called  twisted citron – lucky clover – salty ocean. The inks I had matched how I’d coloured the image up perfectly. I love it when things just work out like that! After I’d gotten the inks blended I splashed water onto it and let it run down the card. Isn’t that effect just awesome? I want to do loads more like it! To match it up I picked three Copics and coloured in candi to put in the top corner.

Here is the side on view of the card.

Copics used: (hippo) C1, C3, C5, (blue) B32, B34, B37, (green) YG01, YG13, YG67, (teal) BG53, BG57, BG78 + white gel pen

Winter Molli

So, remember I said yes to making two Christmas cards for each month this year? I’m actually still on track. I finished this card in the evening on the 28th February, hahaha! I love adding a snowy effect to the winter themed cards using the acrylic paint. Previously I used to love tearing on the edges, but this is far less dusty!

The stamp is by La La Land Crafts and is called Winter Molli, and so is the tree die. Other products are papers from Maja Design, acrylic paint, Memory Box snowflakes, Baker’s Twine, Kort og Godt charm and cheese cloth.
