Let it snow

I’ve been wanting to make a fairly plain and snowy looking Christmas card, so my last Christmas card of the year had to get that look! Blue was the obvious choice of colour to go with, but I braved added a splash of red to it as well! This is the first Christmas card post in a white that will only feature one card. That doesn’t mean I only made one though!

Ivory coloured plain card lured me back to the hobby table to make another card before packing it all away for Christmas. I wanted to keep it fairly light coloured and give it a feeling of snow. I liked the idea I had used on a couple of previous cards, especially the birthday cards, so I decided to use it for a Christmas card also. I picked a shimmering pale blue background with sparkly snowflakes for the left part of the front and separated it from the ivory card with a darker blue border. Then I picked one of my favourite Lili of the Valley Christmas stamps, the James Bear carrying presents, and coloured it in with matching colours along with a splash of red. As the right side felt a little plain, I added several silvery pearls all randomly to it. I think it did a good job added the little extra I felt it needed, without overpowering the card. The final touch was a pearly snowflake in the corner.

I went for a fairly different theme inside, but trying to keep the colours mostly the same still. The decorated paper kept both the blue and snowflake theme going, while bringing in a dash of red. Although the photo doesn’t seem to show it very well, there are white snowflakes on the pale blue background there. I bordered the paper with the same blue from the front before I added a stamped ‘merry christmas’ border to each side with red ink. The Christmas greeting, which is from North Star Stamps,¬†was also stamped in red and I added a red border to it also.

I did make a second card of this design as well, but unlike previous cards I used the same stamp for the image for the front of both of these cards. As the insides are the same as well, there was no need adding photos of it.
