I looked at the challenge last week and decided instantly that I couldn’t enter in the challenge. Why? Because I didn’t have a heart die or anything similar. It bugged me, though. I don’t like being stopped that easily.
Today, after work I decided to get the old fashioned scissors out and cut out a heart shape myself. So here I am, a couple of hours later with a whole new card that I am very pleased with indeed; my entry for the 6th challenge over at Lili’s Little Fairies.
This challenge was completely new for me. I have never followed a sketch before and the challenge was just that; to make a card following a sketch, Jacque’s Valentine’s Sketch. The heart shape clearly stumbled me right away, until I recalled the life before die cuts and pre-made shapes. The scissors turned out to work just fine! And to hide the fact the edge isn’t perfect I had decided even before cutting it that I would cover it up with tiny pearls! A flawless plan it turned out to be, too!
The paler pink was really the only spare paper I had in case I messed up cutting the heart so badly I would need several attempts. Therefore the remaining papers were chosen to go with that. They were all papers I have had for quite a while now, and the one with hearts on fit particularly well. The photo doesn’t show it very clearly, but the top pink background has sparkly swirls on it.
I found the stamp that I thought best fit both the theme of my card and would work with my colour scheme. The Lili of the Valley stamps are always great for various occasions I find, and this is one of my latest additions. I coloured with pinks, reds, earth tones, yellows and green Copics. The bottom layer of the wings got a splash of white sparkles added to them.
To finish it off I added various roses I purchased recently (and seeing how great they are I have just ordered enough to possibly last me all year…). On the opposite side, I added a partially transparent pale brown bow, which happened to leave a shadow when I took a photo of the card! Oh well!
This is gorgeous and I love your hand crafted heart with pearls!! thanks for joining in with us at lili’s little fairies this week xx
