Girly birthday

I’ve had a good weekend making a few cards and getting a fair bit of studying done. As this week has started off with two deliveries of new stuff, one from Wild Orchid Crafts and one from Kreativ Hobby, I wish I could say the next weekend is likely to be equally creative. However, I am going away on Friday for nearly a week, so the cards I have made the past week shall be lined up to so I can easily get them posted over the next week and a half! Anyway, onto this post’s card!

I picked out one of my recently acquired stamps and started colouring it. After I had shaded the pink I wasn’t sure what colour to pick to go with it, so I shuffled through my various cards and quickly spotted the pink with the little flowers and decided it was perfect for this stamp. As it has little blue flowers, I went with baby blue as the accompanying colour. I’m pleased with how the colouring turned out. Normally the first time I shade a stamp it doesn’t turn out as well as I’d like, but that wasn’t the case on this one. Yey! I decided to colour a pale blue background on the stamped image also, to keep the number of colours used as low as possible. The white felt a bit out of place.

Before gluing anything to the card blank, I coloured the front in with a pale blue so it would match the grass (the card blank is a pale yellow as you can see on the inside, behind the front, in the photo below). To make the blue on the card more prominent, I decided to frame the various elements with a pale blue border. I’m really glad I went with the blue and pink as it worked out quite nicely, I think. I then added a thick pink ribbon with a bow. With all these lovely roses laying about from the Wild Orchid Crafts delivery that arrived on Monday, I decided this was a great time to use some! I used some of the roses I bought at the craft show first and then added some cute new blue roses. They fit perfectly!

Finally, I added a sentiment to the bottom. It is one of the Kreativ Hobby stamps that arrived today, and I think it fits nicely. It was the little extra my card was missing! I plan to soon purchase some more ink to use for stamping, so the sentiments aren’t always black!

Girly birthday

I made this card with the new challenge for the Lili’s Little Fairies challenge in mind, as I’d heard it would an anything goes challenge. It was never added, however, so instead I have entered this card into the following challenges:

Allsorts Challenge Week 142: Anything goes
Totally Papercrafts 104: Ribbons and/or Bows
Paper Sundaes – 108: Birthdays
