Easel angel

Yet another card that was a project for my sister. It’s great having excuses to make more cards, so getting to make some for her to give away suited me perfectly! Although, I do find it difficult to make for people I don’t know, it’s good practice before I start on the cards a co-worker has requested made.

The first thing I decided on was that I wanted to make an easel card. I haven’t previously made many of this type, so I thought now was a great time to have a play.

I started with picking out which stamp I wanted to use, and decided on this lovely angel holding flowers from Lili of the Valley. It is a bit different from the stamps I have coloured previously and it’s always fun colouring something new! As I made this quite soon after I was in England early this month, I merely had to use some of the roses I purchased and as the were mostly pinks and whites, those were the colours I chose to go with. In my pile of papers, I had a gorgeous white one with roses on, which seemed perfect for this. I also grabbed a shimmering pink card from the First Edition Paper spring pack. To get some contrast going, I decided to frame it all with a dark green.

As the finishing touches, I decided on a small 20 bordered note, with a wooden button sentiment with the text Happy Birthday. To make sure the card stands up properly, I also added three pink shades of pearls to the top of the flat part of the easel.

And here is a photo side on. I am really quite pleased with how it turned out.
