Elephant love

A couple of months ago, after I had shown a friend one of the new stamps I was looking at purchasing, he asked if I could make a card for him to give away. As always I felt up for the challenge, so I asked what sort of things he wanted on it. The unusual request included elephant, dragon and pink. Slightly puzzled at how I would pull this one I went to work making this card.

As I had already been looking at dragon stamps, I got my friend to pick a favourite. The stamp he ended up with was a dragon holding a poppy of all things! These Wild Rose Studio stamps are cute though, so it didn’t seem like that big of a challenge to colour it. I was unsure, however, of how to incorporate a poppy into this design. Oh well, I let him choose so now I had to deal with it… haha

The hunt then started for an elephant stamp. After looking through some of my favourite designers, I found one at Lili of the Valley. Thankfully it is super adorable and perfect for this card! With the two stamps ordered, I then popped over to Wild Orchid Crafts to make sure I had all the flowers I would need, a found some adorable poppies! How lucky!

After discussing what sort of theme to go with, the decision fell on shabby chic. Thankfully a Tim Holtz pad I’ve got sorted out my paper problems instantly. I love that pad! The stamps were coloured in with copics and the Back2Basic card blank was distressed in pink. A lazy ribbon was added with a thin zigzagged looking ribbon over. Roses were added on the front and poppies inside. The finishing touch were some white pearls.

This is how the inside looks, with the dragon stamp.

This card has been entered into the following challenges:
