Bringing gifts in the snow

As I mentioned earlier this month: I managed to complete my two Christmas cards this month. Here is the other one. This one was also completed on the 28th February. Got to love last-minute work, right? I decided to go with another winter themed card as they are my favourites for Christmas.

For this one I used a Magnolia stamp, various Maja Design paper, acrylic paint, candi, Memory Box and QuicKutz (Lifestyle Crafts) dies and cheese cloth.

And the side on view:

Copics used: (blue) B0000, B32, B34, B37, B39, (skin) E000, E00, E04, E21, (brown and hair) E53, E55, E57, E59, (gift) R20, R24, W1, W3, (ground) C1, C3, C5

Happy birthday

Monday means it’s time for another LaLa Land Crafts inspirational project. This week our theme is birthday. I think this is my favourite LLLC stamp. Isn’t she adorable? She is called Darling Molli. Definitely one of my favourites. As usual you can find a link to all the LLLC products below the card photo.

This card is made with Maja Design papers which I’ve painted around the edges with white acrylic paint. I printed the word birthday and distressed it with the Tattered Rose colour, as that colour was a pretty good match for the card. The two butterfly dies (aren’t they pretty?!) got a body made out of pearls. The image, which is coloured in with Copic, was cut out by hand and added to the top with foam tape.

I coloured this image in during the 30 day colouring challenge on Instagram and the reason she ended up with bright pink hair is because that is what got the most suggestions when I asked. I love it. Thanks for the great suggestions!

Dragons!

I don’t make a lot of cards for boys, so this month is pretty rare. I have made 3 projects which were specifically made for boys! This is the first one I will show you and it is featuring dragons from My Favorite Things. I mean, who doesn’t love dragons, right?!

Distress Oxide Inks have quickly become a favourite of mine and I have used them here for the background. The colour I used is called Salty Ocean and I’ve spashed some water on it to get the cool effect.

The happy die is from La-La Land Crafts. (They still have a sale on. It lasts through the 19th March, see here for more details.)

As you know I don’t like having names on cards shown on the blog (especially children), unless their parents want it shown (I don’t tend to ask, just remove it), so the boy’s name has been removed.

Also, I’ve made a new credit strip for myself at the bottom of the photos. I felt I was really due a new one and it ties well in with the website theme. There will still be a few cards showcasing the old one as they are posts already scheduled. I like it 🙂

Here is the card viewed from the side, before I decorated it with doodles inside.

Copics used:  (yellow dragon) Y11, Y13, Y19, Y38, B32, B34, B37, V12, V15, V17, (blue dragon) B32, B34, B37, Y19, YR04, E08, RV09, RV10, RV14

Edit: Oh how cool. My card was spotted at My Favorite Things! Thank you so much!

Box for a small gift

So here is something that doesn’t happen very often, a non-card project and no colouring! I made this box by request from a co-worker. She really likes the colour blue so I wanted to make it in that colour for her. It was to be given to a couple who were both celebrating their 50th birthday.

I used various blue papers and made a sentiment myself. I cut a paper straw in half and died some twine around it. A bit of cheesecloth, chipboard and blue distress ink helped make up the rest of the box.

Here you can see the side and front of the box at the same time:

The box is easy to open. Just untie it!

As you can see, I added the number 50 to each side. One for each of the two people celebrating their birthday.

Would you like to try to make one? I’ve added a template here.

Hip, hippo, hooray!

You know what’s fun? Distress Oxide inks! I coloured up these adorable stamps from My Favorite Things (MFT Stamps), which I bought at Dies to die for (in the UK). I made three little images in matching colours and then cut them out by hand. Then I decided on a card design, and it got completely ruined, so I had to start over. Thankfully I hadn’t gotten around to using the images yet!

I used three different inks, first light green, then darker green and then blue before going with darker green and lighter green. Let’s see.. the inks are called  twisted citron – lucky clover – salty ocean. The inks I had matched how I’d coloured the image up perfectly. I love it when things just work out like that! After I’d gotten the inks blended I splashed water onto it and let it run down the card. Isn’t that effect just awesome? I want to do loads more like it! To match it up I picked three Copics and coloured in candi to put in the top corner.

Here is the side on view of the card.

Copics used: (hippo) C1, C3, C5, (blue) B32, B34, B37, (green) YG01, YG13, YG67, (teal) BG53, BG57, BG78 + white gel pen
