Spring time

Both I and all my new stash safely made it back from England. After unpacking everything and carefully organising it all last night, this morning was spent making a new card. Mother’s Day is coming up on Sunday here, and with limited time available this week, I had to get the card done today. Before starting, I decided to have a quick look at the latest challenge over at Lili’s Little Fairies, fully expecting to miss out on the challenge entirely as it ends tonight or tomorrow. To my surprise the challenge theme this week is Spring Colours, which would fit my mom perfectly! With that extra motivation, the card didn’t take very long to make at all.

With all the new stuff spread out, the most difficult part was to choose what to use first! One of the new card blanks was an obvious choice, I ended up picking the scalloped edge one as that pack was already open. Then the decision fell on yellow borders as yellow is a lovely spring colour. After that I eyed up one of my new papers, with butterflies, ladybugs and flowers, knowing full well I had accessories that would work perfectly with it.

I added a lace, a purple paper border and then a green ribbon on top, as green is clearly the first sign of spring. (Which I can see none of yet, it is white everywhere.) Next up was choosing which of my new stamps to use, and after I had coloured about half I realised I hadn’t picked a Lili of the Valley stamp… Doh…

After looking through the stack of new stamps again I chose one I’ve been wanting to colour for ages. The little girl with the huge flower inside the frame. The face could have been coloured better, but apart from that I’m pleased with it. It is so adorable! The colours were chosen to go with the rest of the card.

To finish it off I added a paler shaded green ribbon for a double bow, as well as a 3D butterfly and three small ladybugs to crawl over the card.
