Flower power

Arrived in London last night, so today will be spent purchasing more things for my card making collection! There will definitely be a pad of First Edition Papers in my suitcase when I head home, I’ll just have to see which they have first! Apart from that I had a Wild Orchid Crafts order waiting for me here. We shall see what else I can find in Range and Hobbycraft today!

This is a card I made for my sister to give to her friend. She wanted it to be retro-like, which is really not my thing, but I wanted to give it a go anyway. It turned out pretty decent after all I think.

I had coloured in the stamp before I’d even decided I was making a card. The stamp I used is a Sarah Kay one by Stampavie. I love these cute little girls and had a lot of fun colouring this one in. As always I used my Copics for that. I coloured in a pale blue sky behind her, B000 I believe, just so it wouldn’t be white. Then I glued it to a slightly bigger yellow card to have it framed.

The first and obvious choice of paper was the floral one I’ve used as the main background here. It is from my First Edition paper spring pad and is slightly glossy on the patterned bits. I framed it with the obvious retro/flower power colour of orange. Then I had to dig through my other pile of papers and found one I’ve had for months and never found a use for. A striped, washed out pink, aqua and yellow bit of card. That would do well here. I made a simple yellow frame around that also.

Before gluing it all together, I punched out some flowers in different colours: orange, yellow, pink, and dark purple for contrast. I also used my Big Shot to cut out some green swirls. After a lot of fiddling with the positioning of the various elements I glued it all together and used the lovely plain white scalloped card blank.

The inside of the card is similar to the front, without all the flowers and swirls. The greeting area is where the stamped image is. but is of course just plain blank card to write on.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Crop Stop – #59: is it blooming outside?
Crafts and me challenges – #72 Shades of Spring
