Puppies are pals for life

With such beautiful spring weather, the card creativity has been limited to bulks! When I feel creative I make a few cards and then I don’t really many anymore that week. I have to get a few made ready as I plan to move my crafty stuff out of sight for over a month shortly, to make sure my studies get at least some attention before the fast approaching exams! My boyfried’s baby cousin’s 7th birthday is coming up in less than a month, so hers was one of the cards I made yesterday.

puppies are pals for life

A few weeks ago I bought a stamp specifically for this card, as they recently got a labrador puppy. That was the starting point for that card, as well as pink. A card for a young girly girl has to have pink on it! The colour I chose to go with the pink for this card is green. With all the lovely leaves and flowers appearing outside, green is a tough one to avoid these days. The card blank is Back2Basic from Craftwork Cards which is distressed to be green, the green swirly paper is from First Edition Papers and the pink with teddy bears on is from Papirdesign.

The stamp I used is from Lili of the Valley; a little puppy pushing the girl on the swing. It is so cute! I stamped it on completely plain card stock; nothing fancy labeled ultra smooth or bleed free and the like. In fact it had a bit of texture to it and I love how the colouring sat on it. This is a type of card I’ve used a lot recently since I first tried it; I love it! I coloured it in with pinks and greens. For the hair I tried something new while waiting for some new Copics to arrive. I tried a mix of pale brown shades as well as some yellow. It turned out pretty well I think. I added a background effect to it as well, before I gave it a pink frame. In the top right corner I added a wooden happy birthday button, and in the bottom right I added a small wooden dog bone button. Inside the card I have used another button; in the bottom right corner a dog is laying down.

I wanted a bright splash of colour for this, which I added through the ribbon. A deep pink shade with sparkles on it. To not make it look entirely out-of-place, I added some cherry flowers with the same dark pink shade around the edge. As I couldn’t decide on quite where I wanted the flowers for this, I added them in two places, all in shades of pink and three small white flowers. All the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.
