Butterflies and flowers

The crafting inspiration is greater than the blog inspiration still, so I am still a bit behind in posting the cards here. However, this card couldn’t have been posted until this week anyway, as it was for a co-worker whose birthday was this week. I wanted to make something flowery with a dash of red.

I started out by colouring the image I had chosen. It is one of Whimsy Stamps adorable ones and it has quickly become a favourite of mine. At a guess, the copics I used were R24, R27 and R29 for the reds, E50 and E51 for the beige and skin colour, and E31, E34 and E37 for the hair. I never really take notice of which colours I use. Next I used the tea coloured distress ink to edge all 4 pages of the card. The papers I used were from a small pad from DCWV called Mariposa; the papers are so pretty! On the edge I used lace and then a champagne coloured ribbon. The middle was decorated with flowers and leaves from Wild Orchid Crafts.

As you can see, there was no room for the coloured image on the front. I didn’t want to hide the beautiful background papers. I decided to put it inside the card instead. Inside I also used a third patterned paper, a text type one. Additionally I framed both the stamped image and the greeting area with some pre-cut frames I bought months ago, also distressed with the tea colour.

I also made a point of decorating the back of the card with the same paper as on the front, and then stamped my logo straight onto it.
