This card was made entirely for the latest challenge at Lili’s Little Fairies. The main clue here was to use Butterflies and Fairies, which is something I have used a fair bit of, but not really in a combination. I’ve had a massive card making spree this weekend and given something new a go as well as making a card for a co-worker whose birthday is in a few days. These will be added over the next week or two. First we’ll have a look at the card I made for this challenge:
I have had a purple paper with butterflies on for a while, and this was the perfect opportunity to use some of it! When choosing a complimentry colour to go with, I had a moment of insanity and chose orange! Quite a bright orange, making the card much more vivid than I normally do. To break it up a bit, I went with black as the border colour. As this is a Lili’s challenge, I had to use a stamp from Lili of the Valley, and I chose the one I have used many times previously; the fairy smelling a flower. It is adorable, isn’t it? To match with my pre-chosen colours, I coloured it with purples and oranges. The little butterflies are from another stamp set, which I added to bring the butterfly effect into it a bit more.
After gluing those bits together I dug out my flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts and chose a selection of orange and purple flowers, primarily roses. The finishing touch was adding a 3D butterfly to the top right corner; a monarch butterfly in its lovely orange tones seemed perfect. The inside looks similar, without the flowers and extra butterfly.
Apart from the challenge linked above I am entering this card into the following competitions:
