When I coloured in the stamp I used for a card in a previous post, I coloured it in twice at the same time, using different colours. I had a random urge to use a lot of green when colouring the stamp, so I coloured n the greens and skin tones and then stopped dead, leaving it a few days before I went back to finishing the stamp off and picking a colour to go with the green…
I love this stamp, it is so adorable and is (of course?) from Lili of the Valley. As I said, I coloured in the green and skin toned bits a few days before I decided on a colour to go with. The decision fell on purple, after my sister suggested it, and I really like how it turned out! Thankfully I have a lot of paper of each colour, and I reckon I will make many more cards with this colour scheme. Funnily enough, I decided on some scraps for the purple bit here. It wasn’t enough to layer it both inside and on the front, so I ended up cutting out triangles to use in the corners instead. It is a good way of saving your favourite papers to use on multiple cards, so I shall be doing more of that when it’s paper I wouldn’t mind using again.
The decorations themselves are somewhat plain, because I felt the papers did a lot on their own. I did get out my pearls though, and picked some very dark purple ones. Of course it needed some flowers also. The ones I’ve used are from Wild Orchid Crafts, I just love their flowers! I used lilac heather, a few roses of various purple and cream shades as well as a bunch of gypsophila.
As you can see from the side view of the card below, the stemmed flowers are bent to stand outwards slightly. On this bottom photo they cast a shadow much darker than on the photo above. You can also see that the inside is decorated similarly to the front.
