Distressed rainbow, and a dragon

Today I have a very colourful card to show you. I made the background using various distress oxide inks, mostly just to see if I could manage to make something like a rainbow. I thought it turned out pretty cool so I flicked some water onto it to get the right effect and decided to keep it and use it as a background for a card. The stamp I chose to go with it is from Wild Rose Studio, and it had been forever since I last coloured it so it was about time, right?!

I decided, as usual nowadays, to keep the card clean and simple, so I used some plain card stock in a deep orange colour to which I added a text stamp from My Favorite Things.

Copics used: (green) YG01, YG13, YG63, YG67, (lilac) V00, V12, V15, V17, (yellow) Y11, Y13, Y19, (red) R22, R24, R59

Birthday dragon

I randomly decided to follow a sketch this morning. I have only done that once or twice before, I think, but I saw it and thought why not. It is the sketch for the Wednesday Sketch Challenge at MFT Card Challenge. I figured I then might as well use their stamps and enter in the challenge, so I decided on the Magical Dragons and my favourite colour. The dragon stamp was combined with balloons from the Happy Hippos set and the sentiment from the Adorable Elephants set.

The paper is from Papermania, the circular die from La-La Land Crafts and some candi.

Copics used: BG70, BG72, BG75, Y11, Y13, Y19, V91, V93, V95, R00, R20, R22, C1, C3, C5

Dragons!

I don’t make a lot of cards for boys, so this month is pretty rare. I have made 3 projects which were specifically made for boys! This is the first one I will show you and it is featuring dragons from My Favorite Things. I mean, who doesn’t love dragons, right?!

Distress Oxide Inks have quickly become a favourite of mine and I have used them here for the background. The colour I used is called Salty Ocean and I’ve spashed some water on it to get the cool effect.

The happy die is from La-La Land Crafts. (They still have a sale on. It lasts through the 19th March, see here for more details.)

As you know I don’t like having names on cards shown on the blog (especially children), unless their parents want it shown (I don’t tend to ask, just remove it), so the boy’s name has been removed.

Also, I’ve made a new credit strip for myself at the bottom of the photos. I felt I was really due a new one and it ties well in with the website theme. There will still be a few cards showcasing the old one as they are posts already scheduled. I like it 🙂

Here is the card viewed from the side, before I decorated it with doodles inside.

Copics used:  (yellow dragon) Y11, Y13, Y19, Y38, B32, B34, B37, V12, V15, V17, (blue dragon) B32, B34, B37, Y19, YR04, E08, RV09, RV10, RV14

Edit: Oh how cool. My card was spotted at My Favorite Things! Thank you so much!

Magical dragons

There is a 30 day colouring challenge going on, hosted by Kathy of The Daily Marker. At the start of this challenge I saw loads of cute dragons and decided that of course I needed them, too! They seemed a bit hard to get a hold of, so I quickly just gave up and figured it could wait. A few days later they appeared in the post, as an “early birthday present”. Lucky me! I’m definitely keeping this guy, he understands me so well! haha.

I coloured the My Favorite Things dragons up with Copics and then cut them out by hand. Then I decided that for the first time ever I was going to make a proper stamped card! Yikes! I used two border stamps by Neat and Tangled (aren’t they great?!), and a cloud stamp by Panduro, and possibly for the first time ever used several ink pads for stamping on one project! About time, right?! Then I put it all on a Maja Design for the card base. The sentiment is also by MFT. It was a lot of fun to do, but I need more practice for sure. But hey, got to start somewhere!

Copics used: (purple dragon) V09, V12, V15, V17, Y13, Y19, E97, YG01, YG13, YG67, (green dragon) YR04, YR07, Y13, Y19, YG01, YG13, YG67, RV00, RV02, RV04

Sleepy dragon

It has been quiet from me the past few days as I have decided to do my Christmas shopping early this year. Well… start on it early anyway. So Manchester with its Christmas markets, Arndale Centre and Trafford Centre, as well as a trip to Blackburn is taking up most of my week! I have actually gotten a good start on the gift shopping as well, yey! Anyway, because there are Christmas decorations everywhere already, Christmas Carols played over the speakers and Christmas films on the TV, my card today is perhaps as far away from Christmas as it gets!

I have coloured in this adorable Sylvia Zet Wee Stamps dragon copics. The ribbons are from the Hobby House, the background paper is Papermania, the sentiment is Kort&Godt, the flowers are by Wild Orchid Crafts and I believe the die is a QuicKutz one.

The various bits will be linked up when I get back home at the end of next week!
