Thunder and lightning

Determined to enter in a challenge at the Kit and Clowder facebook group, I picked up my copics last night. It was probably not the greatest time of day to colour, but I do find that I do better contrasts and shadows when it’s not daylight, heh. I decided to colour in a challenging image, as it has a lot of hair and skin and that is the class I am following at K&C. To top it off, I chose one which should have a dark background, which I have done very few of in the past. Have to try, right? Heh.

I used flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts, pink paper by Lili of the Valley, Noor Design leaves die and liquid pearls as well as some normal pearls. The gorgeous image is by Ching-Chou Kuik.

The following copics were used:
Skin: E04, E11, E21, E00, E000 and R20
Hair: E57, E43, E53 and E50
Pinks: R89, R85, R83 and R81
Background: YG00, Y000, B87, B85, B83 and B81

Green goth maiden

Finally weekend. My sinuses are none too happy so I suppose I will be spending most of the weekend with a bunged up head… Oh well, I guess I’ll get some crafting done, eh!

This card was made for a challenge at Kit and Clowder in their facebook group. You got this gorgeous free digital image by Ching-Chou Kuik and were to colour it in lilac and teal inspired tones. Look at all the butterflies it’s got! Yey! I think this is the first time I have ventured into the land of unusual hair colours. I coloured it all in with copics using mostly BG70s and BV0s for the teal and lilac shades. At the end I added some liquid pearls to the butterflies.

The papers are by Lili of the Valley and this pad fit the colours I used in the colouring perfectly. I have used a bunch of flowers and big pearls from Wild Orchid Crafts and made butterflies with some Noor Design dies. At the end I added a pearl row to give the butterflies a body, and gold glitter to the end of the wings so they tied in better with the ones I coloured in.

Snowmen love

So I signed up for a Christmas Card Swap in the Kit and Clowder facebook group. You make a card for someone random and you get sent one. How exciting! I thought long and hard about what to make and decided on something reasonably neutral colour wise, but keeping with how I tend to make my cards. This is because I have absolutely no idea what the person might like. I decided to go with a winter theme! It seems rather perfect, actually, as it is currently snowing. The first proper snowfall of the year. I sent it off to Isle of Wight on Friday afternoon and believe it or not, it arrived yesterday. Only the Monday after! That is almost faster than sending things domestically, heh.

I made a card using my new Noor Design dies. I I have used the following Noor! design products: Ice Crystal no.1, Ice Crystal no. 3, Ice Crystal border and border die 0357. For the image I coloured in my most recent Lili of the Valley stamp, called Cold Hands Warm Heart. The two snowmen holding hands are so cute! I used copics for this. I felt I had to colour something in as it was a part of Kit and Clowder which really is all about teaching how to colour! (Excellent classes btw, do try them if you haven’t!) The ribbons, pine cone and flowers are by Wild Orchid Design.

The colours I used are: B0000, B000, B91, B93, B95, B97, B99, R91, R93, R95, R99, W1, W2, W3, C1, C3, Y17, YR15, YR07, E44

Snowfall

Well, this must be a first. I am so pleased with this card I simply had to take the photo straight away so I could put it up on the blog today! I reckon this is the first time I’ve had to post a card up here the same day I made it, lol. This week I went to the shop and bought some new toys, and coloured in my first image after following one of Alyce’s tutorials at Kit and Clowder. It is the skin and hair class I have started on and this is just lesson one, basic skin, and this image is my first colouring after watching the video. I cannot claim to be a very good student as I decided to colour an image I had laying next to me, rather than what was in the lesson, but practice is practice right! I tried to experiment with brighter colours than I normally do, with more contrast.

Anyway, for the card. I have roughened up the edges using a tool I never intended to buy.. For some reason the cashier at a shop added a completely random extra product and I only noticed the small thing after I got home and looked at the receipt. I was just too lazy to go back and figured I’d find a use for it one day. Well, I did! The papers are plain card stock, glitter card stock and Papirdesign snowflake paper. I have used a Tim Holtz die and two Martha Stewart punchers as well as flowers, pearls and lace from Wild Orchid Crafts. The beautiful image is Art by Miran, called Winter Sofia, coloured with copics and snow added using frantage. You can see what colours I used at the bottom of the post.
