Mi Ran DT, shabby daisy

I have some exciting news! I was very recently asked to join Art by Mi Ran’s Facebook Design Team, and of course I accepted! It is the first time I have been on a team for an artist, and it is both intimidating and wonderful! I do love her art and I have coloured up a fair few of her images so far. Have a look at her Etsy shop and I’m sure you, too, will find something you love!

Today’s post will feature the very first card I have made as a part of the Design Team. It is for a progressive challenge. The progressive challenge works as follows: You purchase one specific image for the month you wish to start joining in the challenge. The subsequent months you will receive the image for the current challenge as long as you took part in the previous month’s challenge. Everybody uses the same image each month for this particular challenge. This month we are using Delightful Daisy and the challenge will end on 7th May.

I used copics to colour in mine. I decided to give the card a shabby look, using papers from Lili of the Valley, flowers, ribbon and lace from Wild Orchid Crafts, distress ink, a papermania doily and stickles glitter glue.

These are the copics I used: (skin) E000, E00, E04, E11, E21, R20, (hair) E08, E18, E19, E29, E97, (dress) BV000, BV00, BV02, BV04, (centre flower) YR07, YR15, Y08.

I have entered into the following challenge:

Copic Marker Norge – Vår/Påske med lyse farger

It is spring!

Blog posts seem to be few and far between these days. I am still crafting regularly, though, I am just not posting what I make on here. Today I have decided I really need to add an update though, so here is one of my most recent cards.

I have coloured an Art by Mi Ran image using copics. The background papers are all from various Lili of the Valley paper pads and the sentiment is a stamp from there too. All the flowers are by Wild Orchid Crafts and the leaves are made with a Noor Design die.

Here comes the bride

I may not be posting a whole lot yet, but I am certainly back into crafting, mostly colouring! The mojo is back and I have coloured in a few images this month. Here is one of them, and by the end I was surrounded by markers as I never put them back in place until I am done with the image!

Last month I entered in a challenge on Mi Ran’s facebook group and I was chosen to be a Guest Designer for the challenge starting today. What an honour! I love Mi Ran‘s images and it was the perfect excuse to colour up a new one. I chose Princess for my project. Be sure to pop over and enter in the challenge!

The hair is what I am most pleased with. I have no idea how I managed as I haven’t gotten that far into the Kit and Clowder lessons yet. Trying to work with the basic skills after just watching the first couple of videos, and I am well happy how it turned out. I can’t wait to actually get to the lesson that covers this and see how much I did ‘wrong’, haha! It was fun trying to challenge myself before actually doing the class for this type of hair though! I am surprised how pretty it looks, and I am well chuffed! You know a class is great is when you can do just a couple of lessons and then be able to apply the technique to stuff you haven’t gotten to yet!

Anyway, I have used papers from Lili of the Valley, flowers and pearls from Wild Orchid Crafts, dies from Memory Box and Noor Design (with a dab of distress ink). On the image itself I have used rhinestones for ear rings, liquid pearls in the hair and down her back, as well as frantage and glitter around the image.

The copics I used are: E000, E00, E04, E11, E21, E44, E47, E49, E50, E53, E55, R20, R81, R83, R89, RV00, RV10, G82, G94, C1, C3, C5, C7, W0, W1, W2, W3, B000, B81, B83 and B85. Can you see how I was surrounded? haha.

Lastly I want to add that I have made myself a new watermark! I am quite pleased with how it turned out. Hopefully it will look just as good on darker cards!

Tulipa

New year, new cards. This is the second one I have made this year. (I will put up the other one later in the week.) There is a design team call going over at Art by Mi Ran. I had decided against entering as the entries they have so really quite good, but when I woke up this morning I thought ‘meh, why not’. It was an excellent excuse to colouring up an image instead of doing other stuff this morning anyway!

One of the things I wish to work on this year is my colouring. I feel I am improving, but it’s going to take a lot of practice to get anywhere near as good as I’d like, heh. I am still going through the skin and hair class over at Kit and Clowder, and it is just great! I hope to find enough time to finish that classes this month! (And maybe start on the clothing one after..)

I have, obviously, used an Art by Mi Ran image, it is called Tulipa. I have coloured it in with copics, but instead of using black and grey for the hair I have used the BV20s. The pink paper I have used is from a Tim Holtz pad (hey, at least I remembered one of them!) and the blue was some left over paper I had that seemed to fit perfectly. I have used distress ink on the base of the card and butterflies by Noor Design. All the flowers are by Wild Orchid Crafts, as always. The sentiment is a Lili of the Valley stamp.

As I changed my mind and decided to enter in said DT call, I guess I should provide some additional half useful information! The reason I decided to apply is that I love Mi Ran’s images, they are so very pretty! As you can see from the art I have used on the cards in this post, I am particularly fond of the cropped images. They are also a bit challenging to colour, at least for me, and therefore an excellent way to practice getting better, I think. I would love to show off these lovely images as a part of their team. As I am not on any design teams at present I would be able to fully devote my spare time to this design team. Here are a couple of other cards I have made with Mi Ran’s images, one of which I entered in their challenges and won a guest design spot, and the other I made for said guest spot. (Both cards are linked to their own posts.)

I have also entered it into the Art by Mi Ran facebook challenge.

Christmas draws near

It is almost Christmas! In fact half of the December days that lead up to Christmas are almost over.  I think I best get those last Christmas presents bought soon! Anyway, it is time for another Christmas card, a non-blue one!

The image I chose is a wintery one called Winter Sofia by Mi Ran. I love her stuff. It is the same image as I used a few weeks back as well. Definitely one of my favourites! I coloured it in with copics and added white frantage for a snow effect. I also used some liquid pearls in the top left of the bottom patterned paper as another snow effect.

I have used flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts and painted the edges white. In addition I used a Papermania doily, some cheesecloth, papers I’ve had forever, Tim Holtz distress ink and some ribbon I bought at Range.
