Rural tranquility

A co-worker’s 50th birthday was last week; of course a card was due for the special occasion! I asked her sister-in-law was sort of colours would be good and she told me anything purple and perhaps a bit of brown. So that was my starting point! After a quick trip to a localish shop to get some purple paper, as I was all out, it was time to make the card:

Purple is such an easy colour to work it, and it works wonderfully with brown shades. I picked a lighter coloured background with text from a Tim Holtz pad I’ve got, as I know she loves books and reading. To get some contrast to it I used a white back2basic card blank and a dark brown to frame the different elements.

I picked one of my favourite stamps for this card. Sarah Kay has some adorable images and it’s great that Stampavie offers them. They are too cute! I coloured it in with my copics as usual, picking brown and purple shades. Once again I used non-specific paper that wasn’t labeled bleed free, smooth nor was it sold in a scrap or hobby craft type shop. I so love this paper!

All the papers were glued together and I added a spot of lace horizontally on the middle of the card. It is not very easy to spot it in the photo, mind. I then added various flowers, mostly roses, to decorate the rest of the card. All the lovely flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

I have entered this card into the following challenges:

Paper Sundaes – Challenge #113: Spring blossoms
Cute Card Thursday – Challenge 209: Anything goes
Sweet Stampin – Anything goes
Stampin’ for the Weekend – Challenge 6: Anything goes
The Poodle’s Parlour – Anything goes (my second entry)
