Get ready for lots of bright ideas, and be sure to comment as you hop along, for your chance to win a $25 store credit!

I’ve made a card with the new Creepy Hollow Lantern die. It is so cool and perfect for trying out Pear Blossom Press EZ lights! I made the card in the shape of the lantern and then die cut it loads of times to make it thick enough to hide the lights. The switch is in the bottom left corner with a creepy green hand to press and the main part of the wires are hidden in a cut out part of the stem of the tree. The sentiment and tombstone are both from the Ghosts of Halloweens Past set.

Here you can see the button pushed and the three lights showing. And yes, I had to have a matching spooky nail polish, because why not! It is so much fun to have a card with lights like this, so I will definitely be making more!

Next on the list is Picket Fence Studios. See the full list below

Every good hop has prizes, right? So Picket Fence Studios and Pear Blossom Press are each giving away a $25 store credit! Comment on this post by August 12, 2023 to be entered to win. Winners will be posted on the Pear Blossom Press Blog on August 14th. (Visit Pear Blossom Press for complete contest rules.)

Here is another photo of the card where you can see that I have cut out several layers of the lantern and glued them together.

PFS A Spooky Flight Kit

Picket Fence Studios (this and following links are affiliate links) is releasing a frighteningly fun kit today! It is called A Spooky Flight and is all about Halloween.

I’ve finally played around with alcohol inks for this card! There are two green colours included and I’ve added a dash of yellow to go with. I absolutely love the spooky butterflies, so had to use them right away!

Here is a side on view of the card as well.

PFS Golden Sunflower

Who doesn’t love a good sunflower stamp? Here is a new Lemon Queen Sunflower (this and all following links are affiliate links) from Picket Fence Studios. I’ve stamped it in pale ink and coloured it up in a no-line version. The lined version has very prominent lines and a dark centre, so it should be fairly easy to colour up. I’ve coloured it up with Copics and then used some coloured pencils of the top.

Once again I’ve played with inks. This time I did it on the card base with three different shades of yellow. I wanted it to be subtle, yet interesting, instead of having it in a plain yellow colour. To make it fairly visible I’ve used one of the rectangles in the Double Stitched Rectangle dies set to cut out the coloured panel. I wanted to show a fair bit of the background without cutting off too much of the flower at the same time.

I’ve stamped on a sentiment from the Fancy Congratulaions set and then put on some sequins from the Candy Corn sequin mix.

We’ll have a close-up look at it as well.

PFS Witchy Flying

As I wrote in the other post: I’ve had fun playing with inks and stencils for the new Picket Fence Studios (this and all following links are affiliate links). Here I’ve used the same purple inks to ink blend the background, as I really liked how it turned out for the other card! I’ve added some water splatter this time, though. I did make sure I had a white border around it this time.

First I covered up the moon to keep the back of it nice and white before using a pale ink to colour in the shadows of it using the Haunted Moon blending stencil. Then I used the Flying Witch A2 stencil, but masked out the other parts to only use the witch itself. And then I selected a few of the bats from the Bat Crazy 6×8 stencil and masked out the surrounding ones to make the bats look like singles. I love that they have different shapes.

For the sentiment I used the alphabet dies from the older Double Stitched Rectangle Dies set. I cut it out a few times and then stacked them to give them some dimension before gluing them on in a rather wonky way. Then I wrote in the other words to go with before added a few stars from the Pumpkin Patch sequin mix at the end.

A side on view that shows the word spooky raised from the paper so they kind of look like they are floating.

And then a close up photo as well.

PFS Spooky Halloween release

Picket Fence Studios (this and all following links are affiliate links) is out with one massive release. It’s very spooky and autumn themed, and it also has quite a few florals. Isn’t that just perfect? I’ve actually chosen to play with stencils, die cuts and colours for my release cards this month. First I will show you this spooky house card and tomorrow you will also find a witch card on the blog!

I started by ink blending the background by covering the area for the moon so it would have any ink on it. I ink blended straight onto the card base and made sure it covered well all the way to the edges. Then I used the Haunted Moon blending stencil and a pale coloured ink to make the moon. Later I die cut the A2 Ghost House cover plate die a few times and glued them together for dimension. Before gluing the top layer I embossed the Boo! sentiment. The sentiment is from the Ghosts of Halloween Past set. A few pretty purple sequins from the I’m Alive embellishment jar finished off the card.

Here is a side-on view of the card. You can see the house is raised from the background. That is because I have cut it out three times and glued them together.

And here you can see a more detailed photo.
