Box for a small gift

So here is something that doesn’t happen very often, a non-card project and no colouring! I made this box by request from a co-worker. She really likes the colour blue so I wanted to make it in that colour for her. It was to be given to a couple who were both celebrating their 50th birthday.

I used various blue papers and made a sentiment myself. I cut a paper straw in half and died some twine around it. A bit of cheesecloth, chipboard and blue distress ink helped make up the rest of the box.

Here you can see the side and front of the box at the same time:

The box is easy to open. Just untie it!

As you can see, I added the number 50 to each side. One for each of the two people celebrating their birthday.

Would you like to try to make one? I’ve added a template here.

Foxy Marci

It is Monday again and that means it is time for another inspirational post for LLLC. The theme this time around is nature.

The image is coloured in with Copics. I used my favourite red hair combination for the fox face and her coat. I think that worked out rather well. Maybe it’s time I do start using it on something other than hair, haha. I’ve used various Bazzill and Maja Design papers for the card, printed a sentiment to go with the die cut word and coloured up two candi in matching blues to the dress.

All details and links on the La-La Land products will be found at the bottom of the post, after the photos.

The butterfly stands out from the card beautifully and I’ve decorated it with a string of pearls for the body.

Here is a close-up of the colouring.

Hip, hippo, hooray!

You know what’s fun? Distress Oxide inks! I coloured up these adorable stamps from My Favorite Things (MFT Stamps), which I bought at Dies to die for (in the UK). I made three little images in matching colours and then cut them out by hand. Then I decided on a card design, and it got completely ruined, so I had to start over. Thankfully I hadn’t gotten around to using the images yet!

I used three different inks, first light green, then darker green and then blue before going with darker green and lighter green. Let’s see.. the inks are called  twisted citron – lucky clover – salty ocean. The inks I had matched how I’d coloured the image up perfectly. I love it when things just work out like that! After I’d gotten the inks blended I splashed water onto it and let it run down the card. Isn’t that effect just awesome? I want to do loads more like it! To match it up I picked three Copics and coloured in candi to put in the top corner.

Here is the side on view of the card.

Copics used: (hippo) C1, C3, C5, (blue) B32, B34, B37, (green) YG01, YG13, YG67, (teal) BG53, BG57, BG78 + white gel pen

MFT Stamps – The Birthday Project

Molly with birthday cake

It is the first Tuesday of the month today. That means it’s Tiddly Tuesday and a new challenge. This time around we’d like to see you make projects using the lovely character Molly! I decided to use Molly Celebrates for this.

You know what’s funny? Because I use very little flowers on Christmas cards and have been so fond of making clean and simple cards of late, I was really stuck when I decided to add flowers. Slightly baffled by this I just sat down on the sofa to read for a while, and then when I got back and played with it, it seemed to go somewhat already. It felt rather weird just staring at the flowers and wondering what to do with them, though! haha.

The papers I’ve used on this card are all from Bazzill (plain) and Maja Design (patterned). I really do love this colour. I’ve, once again, painted the edges with white acrylic paint. The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and Live and Love Crafts (now closed), I coloured up some candi in matching purples and then used a sentiment by My Favourite Things (MFT Stamps) which I embossed with white.

Here is a close-up of the colouring. You can also see the die cut leaves, which are from a La-La Land Crafts die.

Copics used: (hair) E08, E18, E19, E49, E97, (skin) E00, E02, E04, E13, E15, (dress and shoes) BG70, BG72, BG75, BG78, C0, C3, C5 (cake) V12, V15, V17, Y19, E08, C0, C3 + white gel pen

Guest designer at La La Land Crafts

So. Guess what?! I (somehow) scored a GDT spot at La-La Land Crafts! It came completely out of the blue (for me at least). And as you may see around here.. I’ve only made one card with a LLLC stamp so far and that is one I posted up just a few days ago, and I’ve not had a whole lot of their dies (which are actually really great and now I’m using them all the time!). How exciting, though! I’m very honoured they asked me, and certainly couldn’t say no. Many thanks for the opportunity! Here you will see my first card as a guest designer on their team. There will be a new one every Monday for three months.

And the theme? That was to be black and white! Oh well, may as well jump straight in and do all things I’ve only done once before at the same time, right?! And as I’ve ever made like two shaker cards ever.. why not add a shaker element?!

There will be links to all the LLLC products below the photos.

I actually ended up taking a photo of this card twice as the first one just looked like I’d desaturated the image. So I figured lime green raindrops scattered around would work to show that the card and all is definitely proper black and white!

I used the birthday die twice. Once in black and once in white so that it would stand out a bit more. Then I printed a shorter sentiment to go with it which I placed right above and to the left.

Here you can see the pearls in the shaker part of the card spread out with a closer look at the branches and die in the middle. For the shaker filler I used pearls.
