More Christmas cards

With only three weeks to go until Christmas, I am quite pleased I have managed to finish half of my Christmas shopping already. I have not had a lot of spare time between studying for the various exams so far and I doubt I will get any more shopping done until the last one is over and done with around 6pm on Monday the 19th December. Hopefully I am able to make a few more cards next week, though. There are a few I would like to get done, birthday cards included!

This post contains cards I made early last month. Once again red is my preferred background colour.

Teddy with flowers

This is another birthday card, but this time the stamp image was chosen first. I love the teddy holding all the flowers, with the little frame. After colouring it in, I decided on what colours I wanted to use on the cards to go with – a little backwards, I know. I’m quite pleased with how the colouring turned out.

The punched border was decided on early, I hadn’t used it on any cards I’d made thus far, not the corner punch anyway. It was a little tricky to get it to even out, as I hadn’t looked to see whether it came with suggested measurements. I got it lined up and working anyway. It worked well with the textured paper.

To get it all to tie together, I tried to hand draw a flower border around the greeting area. I wish I’d had a thinner pen to do it with, but it turned out alright, I think.

Card viewed from the front

I quite like this card design. I got the idea for it after browsing through many cards online. It is great how it folds flat, but can stand up on display like this, and it was so easy to make! The pearls were used for both decorative and practical reasons; they are great for holding the card from sliding while stood on display!

I quite like this card!

Bubbles and wine

There are some excellent tutorials out there on achieving various folds for the cards. I found three of them on this page at StampARTic. Number two on said page is the one I used for this card. It was great having measurements to follow, rather than guess randomly and hope it would turn out ok. And better still; it was fairly easy to make, even for a beginner! Thank you for a great tutorial.

Apart from the great folding technique, I used wine as inspiration for this card. I ended up using less of the paper I had bought specifically, but that doesn’t make it any less inspirational. The card is a birthday card for an auntie.

I’m quite pleased with how it turned out. This is how it looks before it is opened.

Next up is the half opened fold. I merely used a decorative wine paper and added a red border (the same red border is visible on the cards first page.

Bubbles and wine, half opened

Lastly we have the card fully open. I stuck with the colours and shapes I had used thus far and I am very pleased with the result.

I think this is one of my favourite cards thus far.

Birthday card

Autumn brings plenty of birthdays on my other half’s side of the family, so it is mostly them I have been making cards for thus far. The aim for this specific card was simple, but sweet. Pink then being the obvious choice of colour went well with my favourite of cream shades. (You will soon see I have a knack of using cream-like shades in most of my cards)

I was merely playing around when I made this, only using all the scrapping material laying about me on the table as inspiration. Although, I am certain various cards I have looked at during the weeks before making this had an impact also. The stamp I used here is by Tina Wenke, Mouse on Daisy, from Stampavie.

There is some design inside the card where the greeting is, but not enough that I felt it necessary to add a photo of it.
