It’s spring!

The last few days of beautiful sunshine and agreeable temperatures have made me want to toss the warmer clothes to the back of the wardrobe. Spring is seeming right around the corner, but experience tells me it may well start snowing again next week, so I shall wait a little bit longer before getting the sandals back out. Any threats of snow will not stop me from making spring inspired cards, however! This post is for a card I just finished today.

I started by colouring in this Sarah Kay stamp by Stampavie, using copics as usual. It is such a pretty one, I love it, and was eager for another excuse to use it! As I was colouring, I didn’t really consider the colours until it was only her trousers left and I figured I may as well colour them green and make it a green and pink card with some yellow for an additional spring feeling.

After rummaging through my papers, I gave up trying to find a suitable starting card. Instead I got out one of my blanks and distressed it green. Plain pinks and yellows I still have a few of, so I decided to make a layered border. The patterned paper is from yet another new First Edition Papers pad, which I hadn’t even purchased for myself. Oh well, it is mine now haha! If you look at the image below you can see the card is a bit glossy, which the flash caught in all its glory. It isn’t normally that obvious!

As she is sat in a bed of flowers, I added just that below her. I picked various flowers, including the cherry blossoms as their colours matched my card perfectly, to make a border at the bottom of the card. All the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts. To finish it off I added a row of pale pink pearls at the top, and a dark yellow bow on the side.

it's spring!

I have entered this card into the following challenges:

Cute Card Thursday – Challenge 206: Signs of Spring
Pile it on – #10: Are we seeing spots or stripes or both?
The Pixie Cottage Challenge – #110: Anything goes
CES Challenges – #75: Flower Frenzy
