Lady in pink

For this card I wanted to use pinks and blacks. This was one of the very first cards I made after I got the die cutting machine for Christmas and it had to be tried out for various shapes! I also wanted to try something different and not use a stamped image for the front. It made the card quite different from anything else I had made previously.

It is very simply made, by cutting out a black frame, and finding a suitable image to use. It was chosen from a sheet of twelve girly portraits I bought half a year ago when I first started making cards. I think this girl is adorable and it fit the colours of the card very well. Then I made various swirly cut outs to add around her, with some smaller ones down in the bottom corner, where I then added a rose on top. It felt a bit plain, but that is how I wanted it in the first place, so I left it at that.

Inside I cut out the same black shape and made a matching white one to go inside.  As the front was so plain, I wanted the inside a bit fancier than normal. I edged it pink to match the outer edges of the card and then stamped a Lili of the Valley image inside, together with a birthday greeting. I really need to start using other stamps than that one as I have made a fair few cards using it lately! It’s made to look like she is peeking out from behind the black border, even if the white image is on top of the back. Lastly I punched out some simple flowers, which I felt had to remain flat as it was inside.
