Playing with watercolour

So… I did something crazy! I bought a cheap set of watercolour paint tubes and decided to have a play around to make my own background. It was quite a lot of fun and I really like how it turned out. The colours are so bright and cheerful and the texture is pretty cool, too.

The stamp is by The Greeting Farm, which I coloured in with Copics, and the sentiment stamp is by My Favorite Things which I used my new bright blue ink on. Love that colour!

Copics used: (hair) E08, E18, E19, E97, (skin) E00, E02, E04, E13, E15, (clothes) Y13, Y19, Y38, BG49, BG53, BG57

Big hair and circular card

So, I found another use for my Silhouette Portrait 2, yey! Circular cards! I’ve been wanting to make them for a while, but haven’t gotten around to ordering dies big enough. Now I’ve made a file that makes sure it doesn’t cut through the top so the card can be opened, and it has a tiny bit at the bottom cut off too so that will stand firmly on the surface. I’m pretty pleased with both the size and shape of the base as well as the size of the circles inside.

I used a QuicKutz die by Lifestyle Crafts for the big scalloped circle and LaLa Land Crafts die for the smaller one which is framing the main image. The image with all that hair is by Krista Smith and Saturated Canary. I’ve had it for quite some time, but only got around to colouring it up for the 30 day colouring challenge. All the papers are by Maja Design which I’ve painted with acrylic paint as usual. I used cheese cloth and printed out a small sentiment to go with the Birthday die cut from LLLC. I absolutely love that text die, it’s so pretty! If you don’t have it already, you might find that you need it, just sayin’!

Here you can see the card from a side on view. As usual I’ve not decorated it inside. It stands pretty well and doesn’t slide or roll 🙂

Copics used: (hair) E70, E74, E79, E49, BV00, (skin) E00, E02, E04, E13, E15, (pink) R39, R81, R83, R85, RV00, (green) YG01, YG13, YG67, (grey) W3, W5, W7, (purple on bottle) BV02, BV04

Adorable elephant scene

I saw some cute images being used for the 30 day colouring challenge in January. They were by My Favorite Things. I decided I had to get some as well and after some searching I tried Dies to Die for. After contacting customer support I got the images I was after delivered a little after a week, which is great. I don’t really tend to recommend shops, but the lady was very nice and helpful, so thank you!

Here is a card I made using several of the stamps from the Adorable Elephants stamp set. Apparently I stamped 21 times in total for this card! My first time making a stamped up scene, so I decided to keep the card very simple. The sentiment is also from MFT which I embossed in white.

Copics used: (sky) B00, B000, B0000 + blender, (red) R22, R35, R39, R89, (green) YG13, YG61, YG63, YG67, G99, (yellow) Y13, Y19, Y38, E97, (elephant) C1, C3, C5, R20, R22

Happy birthday, friend

Sometimes colouring is more fun than other times. I have been lucky and have had so much fun colouring this year, trying new combinations, trying new types of images and simply enjoying myself! I’ve lost count how many images I’ve coloured so far this year, which is a bit crazy, haha.

Today I will show one of my favourites so far this year, colouring wise. It is a Make it Crafty image. I played around with making a turquoise coloured dress which has a hint of yellow in it. Then I worked quite hard to try to make all the little details in the image show and I’m quite pleased how well that turned out. It was quite fiddly at times!

The background paper is from Paper Cellar, the gorgeous chipboard is also from Make it Crafty and I added the smaller text myself on printed paper.

Want a closer look at the chipboard? I coloured it with the same colours as the dress, and deliberately did it a bit darker.

Here is a close-up of the colouring as well, in case anybody wanted to look at that!

Copics used: (skin) E000, E00, E04, E21, (white) C1, (hair) BV20, BV23, BV25, BV29, (yellow) Y04, YR15, (purple) V00, V06, V09, (dress) BG53, BG49, G40

Clean, simple and yellow.

I’m joining in with team 1 this month for our new moodboard challenge at Copic Marker Norge. I have been quite heavily inspired and had some random impulse to just try to make most of it myself.

It is funny really… yellow must be the colour I use the least when I craft. I don’t really like it. But this, this I can live with. I think it turned out quite cool!

I’ve drawn in the background with a Copic multiliner 0.1 black. I went with the patterns and feeling I got from the moodboard. (You can see the moodboard here.) I ended up drawing tons of little lines and it was actually fun! I think I will practice this and try it again. After colouring in the border on top I coloured in the yellow with Y11 and coloured in a couple of candi to match (100 and BV25). I then drew three lines across at the bottom and then started filling it in with loads of little lines before I decided to make the bottom part of the card yellow as well.

Before I glued on the image and the candi, I printed out the sentiment I made on the PC straight onto the card base I’d coloured up. Thankfully I managed to get it where I wanted it… that could have ended quite badly, haha. Now I just need to pick out a thicker multiliner next time I am the shops so I don’t have to colour in thin lines again!

The image I’ve coloured in is by The Greeting Farm. This is the first time I’ve made a card with one of their images. Cute one, right?

Yesterday, my boyfriend made me a new box to take photos in, and I LOVE it! I can now have a background behind the photos to make it easier to see the edges of the cards as well as taking photos of the cards a bit side on. Doesn’t it make the photo look great?!

And now I can also take the photos like this! Yey!

Copics used: (skin) E00, E02, E04, E13, E15, (hair) B60, BV23, BV25, BV29, (clothes) Y11, Y13, Y19, E97, W0, W3, W5, (self-made card background: Y11, 100, multiliner)
