So it turned out I was right last week, when I predicted our lovely spring weather could be replaced by snow any day. We got 20 cm of snow last week, but it has already mostly melted. 13°C today is much higher than what is usual at this time of the year. It was ever so lovely though, hopefully more flowers than just the snowdrops will make their appearance over the next week. Let’s hope for no more random sudden temperature drops and snow. I love spring and I’m sure it’s easy to see where I’ve gotten the inspiration for today’s card from!

Flower power
Arrived in London last night, so today will be spent purchasing more things for my card making collection! There will definitely be a pad of First Edition Papers in my suitcase when I head home, I’ll just have to see which they have first! Apart from that I had a Wild Orchid Crafts order waiting for me here. We shall see what else I can find in Range and Hobbycraft today!
This is a card I made for my sister to give to her friend. She wanted it to be retro-like, which is really not my thing, but I wanted to give it a go anyway. It turned out pretty decent after all I think.
Party mice
All out of ideas for another masculine card, I decided to instead go with something reasonably neutral. The recipient of this card is quite fond of green, so that was an obvious choice. Little did I know when I started that I would end up with orange of all colours! Anyway, the card was made and it’s an easel card!
Autumn
While searching for a tool to make tiny circles with I got somewhat side tracked and ended up purchasing not one, not two, but three floral punches! I’ve been looking at getting some since I started with scrapping, so as soon as the order arrived I started punching out flowers aimlessly. Today I’ve finally had a bit more time, and got some random inspiration to make a card. Last week I was on two smaller hiking trips and loved the colours surrounding me. That is where I’ve gotten the inspiration for this card.
Feeling completely zombied this morning I started colouring a stamp image, one of my favourite motives. The mouse on a daisy, a Tina Wenke image by Stampavie. Once that was done the rest went very quickly. I picked yellows and greens for the paper and added some orange with the punched flowers. Of course I had to use punched flowers on the first card!
I tried to get the inside to match the front somewhat, and I am really pleased with how the whole card turned out. This time I even remembered to take the photo before writing on it!
It’s nearly a month and a half since I made the last (and first!) cards and I am surprised how easy it was to make this. Although, I am certain that purchasing the cutter, which cuts both straight and scalloped edges helped immensely!
A little less feminine
It was difficult. Making a card for a bloke was in fact a lot harder than I had thought it would be. I decided to avoid the side puncher and fancy layouts and go with something simple. This was one of the first cards I made.
I wanted a bright colour, because it reflects the recipient well. The tea coloured Distress Ink worked as a nice fade effect, sadly it was the first card I attempted it on so it doesn’t look great.
This is possibly the best colouring I have managed so far. It was an obvious stamp choice as it was the least feminine one I got! The balloons turned out just as I wanted them to, and the bear looks pretty good, too.
If there is one obsession the recipient has then it’s motorbikes! This card obviously had to have an element on this in it. Lacking good ideas of how to add it, I merely cut some paper around the edge of the bike image and added it as a plain element. With more experience I hope to add more originality… The other half of the middle was the greeting part with balloons and framed with jeans printed paper.
At the back I added a jeans like back pocket with a tag inside.
